Workman Kids is searching for a Marketing Assistant to provide support for our NY-based team. Workman Kids publishes books that bring a world of possibilities to young readers through innovative, educational, and inspiring books that entertain, enrich, and inform! Featuring beloved and bestselling brands such as Brain Quest®Paint by Sticker® Kids, and Indestructibles®. Workman Kids is committed to growing a new generation of inquisitive minds and lifelong readers!

Reporting to the Associate Publisher/Head of Marketing and Publicity, this is an integral role that works across teams and provides insight into how these key departments bring our books to market. We are looking for someone who is innovative, creative, and detail-orientated as well as being passionate about children’s book publishing!

This position is hybrid, working out of Hachette’s NYC office three days a week and remotely two days.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Copywriting for assets such as activity sheets + merchandizing kits, advertisements, branded materials, and more to develop campaign & brand specific assets with the Creative Services team
  • Working closely with the Digital Marketing team to coordinate newsletters, video content, advertising & more
  • Assist with creating and maintaining the department digital filing system, including the creation of seasonal grids, sales account promotional trackers, marketing plan shells, and budget templates for future seasons
  • Work closely with the Publicity & Digital Assistant to generate social content both designed & lifestyle for our vibrant social media promotions
  • Interact professionally with authors and agents, as well as internal departments within WK and HBG, including design, editorial, production, and sales.
  • Administrative tasks include processing weekly invoices for the department, maintenance of marketing and publicity budget (in collaboration with the AP), facilitating kit mailings, note-taking at meeting, etc.
  • Travel (as needed) to represent Workman Kids and School & Library conferences around the country
  • Provided additional support as needed for WRPG School & Library Marketing Manager such as award submissions, newsletters and more

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Passion for working in the children’s media space, experience working with children’s books a plus!
  • Strong & creative copywriter
  • Unique problem solver with a willingness to learn & collaborate
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for pop culture and trends in children’s marketplace
  • Meets deadlines and can manage time effectively with good follow-up and follow-through
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, able to work with colleagues at every level of seniority.
  • Highly organized, capable of multi-tasking
  • A sharp attention to detail
  • Self-directed and able to work independently to achieve goals
  • Familiar with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Canva and Excel or other like tools

The compensation for this position is $50,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
