Take grad courses as an undergrad

Take grad courses as an undergrad

Pace juniors and seniors: if you’re still looking for courses to complete your spring schedule, check out our graduate course offerings!

Pace University allows you to take up to two graduate courses as an undergraduate. It’s a great way to boost your undergraduate experience, explore different kinds of courses, and give you a possible head start on a master’s degree. Pace just requires that you be at least a junior, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and permission from our department chair, Paul Ziek.

Check out our graduate courses on Schedule Explorer. If you see one you like, complete a Registration Action Form (Course Restriction Override Form) through the registrar’s office.

Here’s one spring course you should consider: MCA 680 Media Law. Knowledge of media law is crucial for all types of communicators. This course covers copyright, defamation, privacy, obscenity, and tons more. And it’s being taught by an expert in the field, Jeff Hermes with the Media Law Resource Center.

If you’re thinking about a graduate degree, consider one of our combined degree options! You can combine the MA in Communications and Digital Media with any MCVA undergraduate major. Apply by your junior year, and complete your bachelor’s and master’s degree in just five years total. Talk with your academic advisor for more information.

“Bunker 35,” a short film by MCVA clinical associate professor Lou Guarneri’s fall 2024 cinematography and lighting classes, is now available on YouTube. Written by digital cinema and filmmaking students Brie Luna and Alexis Riviello, this short sci-fi film explores a post-apocalyptic world where survivors live in small bunkers that are being observed by an unknown group. “Bunker 35” is another film in the playlist of “Class Collabs,” where students work together as a production crew to make a film during the semester.

Watch the film below, and look forward to more DCF class collaborative films in the coming months.
